Mercer Kutch Law Firm, a boutique business law and civil litigation firm in Jacksonville, Florida, is seeking a talented Associate Attorney to join our growing practice. We’re looking for an attorney who enjoys litigation but also recognizes that some of the most valuable legal work happens before a dispute ever reaches the courtroom. This position offers a combination of commercial litigation, business disputes, contract law, and transactional matters. Our attorneys not only represent business owners when problems arise but also help them structure transactions, negotiate agreements, and make sound legal decisions to protect their businesses.

What You’ll Do

As an Associate Attorney at Mercer Kutch, you will have opportunities to:

• Handle commercial litigation, contract disputes, real estate litigation, and commercial collection matters.

• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, legal memoranda, and other litigation documents.

• Participate in hearings, depositions, mediations, settlement negotiations, and trials.

• Develop litigation strategies and manage matters from initial evaluation through resolution.

• Work directly with business owners, entrepreneurs, and closely held companies.

• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts and business agreements.

• Assist with business purchases, sales, asset purchase agreements, and related transactional documents.

• Provide practical legal advice focused on preventing disputes, managing risk, and accomplishing client objectives.

• Communicate directly with clients, opposing counsel, and other professionals.

What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications

• Active membership in The Florida Bar, in good standing.

• Meaningful civil litigation experience, including independent responsibility for substantive legal work.

• Excellent legal research, analytical, and writing skills.

• Strong attention to detail, sound professional judgment, and organizational skills.

• Ability to communicate effectively with clients and manage competing priorities.

• A practical, solutions-oriented approach to legal problems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Approximately 3–7 years of experience practicing law in Florida.

• Experience handling commercial or business litigation.

• Experience with hearings, depositions, mediations, and motion practice.

• Strong academic credentials and demonstrated professional achievement.

• Interest or experience in business transactions, contract drafting, and business counseling.

Prior transactional experience is welcome but not required. We are particularly interested in litigation attorneys who want to broaden their practice into business advisory and transactional work.
